Get To Know DeLa
For Boston-born DJ DeLA (Jean-Philippe Fontaine), music has been a constant thread throughout his life. It is the one thing that he can “always remember,” and that ties him to the most important people in his life. Most importantly, his mom, who gifted the love of music by exposing him to those R&B classics as a child, and then to pop music hits when she moved him to Miami during elementary school. Then later, he moved back to Boston, where he fell in love with hip-hop and the sounds of the Caribbean. It was only natural that he’d end up in the music industry in some capacity—moving to Los Angeles, CA, and working in the world-famous Capitol Records building off Hollywood Blvd. His experience in the music business left a lasting impression on him, widened his breadth and understanding of music, and deepened his love and appreciation for all genres.
Now based in Washington, DC, DJ DeLA has spent the last 3 years behind the decks, curating soundtracks for events in the area. With every event, he brings an intentional approach to music, crafting a vibe that fits the moment, keeps people engaged, and feels anything but typical. With an open-format DJing style, his goal is always the same: to create a memorable experience where people connect, celebrate, and feel the energy shift the moment the music starts.
